Intriguing matrioshka of lists on the left, even before getting to their very serious names.

Jokes aside, I wouldn't read that much into it. Parties have started to realize that the councillor's electoral system punishes vote dispersion and they lose more seats because of that than they gain votes by running 10 separate lists. The exception is the Radical Party which has focused on local elections in the last decade with decent success and knows that it would get the short end of the stick in terms of candidacies in alliance with other parties.

PS leadership does seem to pay a lot of lip service to "strengthening" Socialismo Demócratico, but we already saw that ff push comes to shove, they rather keep the alliance with FA-PC instead of reviving the Concertación (Constituent elections 2.0) and the fact that they didn't bother to run a joint councillor's list with all the parties of SD means they don't truly care that much about it.

These are the pacts for the municipal elections, so far. Again, The left really covered themselves in glory with the names of the councillors's lists.

Are republicnaos not running? Why?

They are, but they have not registered their list yet because they won't do primaries. They have a few months still and a plétora of small parties will also end up running.

No disrespect to the left, but "Por Chile, Seguimos" is the most awful and hilarious list name I've read since Sichel imposed "Chile Podemos Más" on us in 2021.

That had to have come out straight of Diego Ibáñez after checking Twitter.

But I have to give that title to "Tu comuna Radical " which sounds like someone parodying flaite speech, "Tu princ3zit4 bn fl0w" and things like that

Hahaha, one thing I'll give to the Radicals, they're consistent on the epic cringe. Just think of this blast from the past:

How diferent are the "radicals" and the "liberals" in Chile? Why don´t they unite?

How diferent are the "radicals" and the "liberals" in Chile? Why don´t they unite?

Strictly speaking, though the Radical Party has kept the historic name - that dates back to the XIX Century and was hugely important between the 1930's and 1960's or so -, the current iteration is a fusion between the old remnants of the Radicals and the abortive attempt at a Social Democrat party in the 90s. It's even part of the Socialist International I think, so while it may be described as "social liberal" in many ways, it comes from a different kind of ideological tradition.

The "Liberals" - for I refuse to give them the name, left-wingers as they are to me -, claim a more ideologically pure liberal tradition, though of course from the center-left. They also brand themselves as a newer, younger party, which doesn't track at all with the perception of the Radicals as one of the oldest parties in the country I think. So while their brand of social liberalism probably matches quite well, they may find the Radicals to be social democrats and not liberals.

This is all speculation of course, the hard truth is that no one - not on the left and not on the right now - wants to be in a larger party if they can have their own personal vehicle to pursue specific ego trips.
