The Democratic/Green coalition edges Gore into the White House, with New Hampshire and Florida being the key states. He promotes a new era of bipartisanship (due to the tied House and Senate) with cabinet appointments from both sides of the aisle, including Bush primary opponent Senator John McCain of Arizona to the post of Secretary of Defense.
 He uses the surplus to pay off some US debt with massive support from both sides of the aisle and proceeds to use the bully pulpit of the Presidency to popularise eco-friendly solutions to the energy crisis such as biofuels, wind power and just ridin the bus. The crowning jewel of his eco-plan is the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol, whcih has a damaging effect on the US economy.

I aint that knowledgeable, but anyhoo... Gore continues to do a competent job until 9/11, where the country watches a split screen of him giving a speech on renewable energy sources on a windfarm in New Mexico. He shushes an aide who tries to tell him about the plane that has just crashed into the WTC. After finishing the speech, Gore is informed and quickly makes a press conference from a nearby aircraft hangar in which he denounces the acts as barbaric blah blah
