Sad day in the K-pop world today. While Girls' Generation will likely continue as a 5-member group, this is clearly the beginning of the end (especially with the apparently terrible treatment SM gave them lately). Between this and the disbandment of major groups like KARA, 4 Minute, and 2NE1 last year, the second generation of K-pop (at least for girl groups) has effectively ended.

Truly the end of an era. At least we can hope the three who are leaving good luck in their future endeavours.
