How would a Democrat from or aligned with the Squad do in a national election if they were the party nominee?

UT wpuld depend on the GOP nominee.
The republican would win unless they nominate an Freedom Caucus radical (then, it would be a toss-up)

Would almost certainly lose badly unless the Republican ticket is extremely bad and/or the Democrats is bailed out by a climate worse than 2008 for Republicans.

Republicans would destroy her.  New York would be competitive.  I hope this happens.

New York is not going to swing to the Reublicans. The Squad even has some house representation from the state of New York!

This very much depends on the Squad Democrat. Pressley would probably do better than AOC, while Tlaib, Bush, or Bowman would do historically bad.

But I don't think there's a chance for any sort of mega-loss like 72 or 84 anymore.

Sure, but competitive doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna flip. North Carolina has been considered competitive in every cycle since 2008, and that's the only cycle in which it's gone to the Democrats.

That said, I agree with this assessment. The "rehabilitated" members would do decently, while the "unrepentant" members would not.

Absolutely atrocious. Would lose previously blue places like Lackawanna County, PA by 25 points and destroy the Dems suburban coalition.

Trade the suburban bourgeois vote in exchange for the working class who have swung to the Republicans. If the Democrats want to be serious about winning elections they should ditch neoliberalism and fully adopt to being a populist left party. The coalition would not be so fractured with having right-leaning voters in the same party as progressives.

The only way to do that would be moderate on social issues and pray GOP goes pro free trade again. There is no way to fully appease the insurgent left types without losing elections in the USA.
Dems should better try to help unionize the South (specially GA and NC) and try to have their case on farms again.
Also, try to win Macomb County again, and maybe other WC suburbs.

The Dems would have to be a much more patriotic party than what they currently are to pull this off. WWC voters are really not interested in economically left candidates who spew communist slogans like the squad does.

Eh, patriotism has nothing to do with it. Patriotism is simply loving one's country, but that doesn't necessarily have to mean believing one's country is perfect. Personally, I'd say that working toward improving things one believes are wrong with one's country is actually the highest form of patriotism.

Now, this thread is talking about the Squad. Can admit there are a member or two there that, through their rhetoric, don't seem all that patriotic. But, you didn't just bring up the Squad; you brought up all Democrats. Plenty of patriotic Democrats out there, contrary to some ill-held beliefs.

People with AOC's views on social issues and cultural issues would do terribly with working class voters.

This question may have been interesting, to me, before 2021.

Now, I don’t give a s*.

They are worthless.

Become more nationalist, protectionist, America First and immigration restrictionist, and they could pull it off. They don't have to become military interventionist.
