I Assume you'll keep the 20 year curse going as I hope the racist bastard dies in Office in 1924 just as he did IOTL.

If Wilson did manage to secure the nomination in 1920, I'm assuming that he didn't suffer that debilitating stroke which plagued the latter half of his second term in RL. Thus, I'd expect that he'd live beyond February 1924. Also, Nik, please tell me the British and Australian political scenes have altered somewhat in this world. Most Americans tend to neglect such butterflies.

Haha, I'll try my best throughout the timeline. You can expect that the list of both their Prime Ministers, respectively, will change. Initially, the changes won't seem drastic, however. Luckily, before I started this timeline, I checked out L.C.B. Seaman's Post-Victorian Britain. Smiley

When I finish my update, you will see a very different form of the British Empire's foreign policy in the 1920's.

I'll try to get that update tonight, but I lost part of it when I accidentally clicked on a link. It was only two paragraphs, so I hope I can still get it up.

The Second Term of Woodrow Wilson

“Justice – without justice, we condemn our society to lawless purgatory – we must – and we shall – overcome the threats to justice and order." The closing of Wilson’s inaugural address stirred a public shaken by wars, intervention, and hardship. The Great War had redefined the world, as Wilson took office in a time of great transition. In February, Bolshevik Russia walked through Georgia, as the League of Nations sat idly by. Communist parties were established all throughout Europe, especially in the former Central Powers, as the movement quickly gained speed. However, Wilson’s main concern in 1921 was not of foreign policies, but that of domestic affairs. People wanted a return to normality, or as that Ohio senator kept calling it, normalcy.

In due time, all concerns would be addressed. On Wilson’s plate was the issue of veterans, the postwar economic slump, disarmament and the new American mandates in the Middle East. Wilson would act quickly to form the Veterans Administration, or VA, to aid and economically benefit returning soldiers. On the issue of economic affairs, he would meet fierce opposition. In 1917, then Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon persuaded his administration and the congress to pass the Revenue Act, which reduced taxes significantly in order to “spur economic growth and prosperity." Even with a democratic congress, many did not want to see a repeal as it had, so far, been a success. As Wilson’s efforts persisted, a vote was levied on the measure, which resulted in a defeat for President Wilson. In addition, the perennial issue of immigration was brought up for debate. Wilson had conflicting ideas about it; as immigrants proved crucial to one of his dreams: A lasting democratic majority. Wilson would, by this idea, decide not to recommend any form of quotas on immigration.

In Foreign Affairs, Wilson quickly returned to his old positions of neutrality and non-hostility. In April, after long negotiations, Wilson would continue Hughes’ policy in the American mandates, nominating Atlee Pomerene to be Governor of Iraq, and Franklin Roosevelt to be Governor of Palestine. Both would be confirmed without any significant protest, despite La Follette’s plea that “The United States is not a colonial power, please, I beg of you, as Americans, to defeat these nominations and send a message to the President”. Arriving, they would meet with Emir Faisal and his brother, Abdullah. Laying out plans for two democratic states, they did not arouse controversy except on the subject of Zionism. Plans were drawn up earlier that would, in fifteen years, relinquish part of the region and turn it into a Jewish homeland. Despite this, Faisal and Abdullah merely scowled, and the Republics of Iraq and Transjordan were born. Winston Churchill, moved to the Foreign Office, would be in no position to oppose the agreement, as he quite liked the ideas. British policy in their occupied sphere would agree would agree with American interests, as they had to concentrate on Egyptian unrest. In June, Wilson would withdraw American soldiers from Russia, citing “Despite ideology, we are infringing on Russia’s territorial integrity."

President Wilson, throwing out the first pitch at Fenway Park.

The summer of 1921 would pass with no significant controversy, and on July 22nd, Britain would declare a truce with Irish forces, and agree to the establishment of an Irish Free State. The Anglo-Irish treaty, as the League of Nations intervened, was signed on August 5th, giving “Ireland” the right to 26 out of 32 counties.

On November 11th, Armistice Day was celebrated around the world, commemorating the end of the Great War. In the midst of this, The Washington Naval Conference began, with the goal of continuing disarmament around the world. Wilson, along with Secretary of State Newton Baker, would attend the conference. The British delegation would be surprised at how well America and Japan were getting along, as they were, of course, competing for dominance in the Pacific. The British, encouraged by this, announced the renewal of the Anglo-Japanese alliance. The League had helped much; relations between nations would be swift and precise. Every nation, despite some notions of regret by Japan, would agree to continue the Open Door Policy in China. Pleasing to all Great Powers, though, was the continuation of freedom of the seas outside territorial waters. Naval armament would be restricted; As Britain and the United States would be allowed the largest fleets, with other powers consenting. The Naval Conference, much to the jubilation of Wilson, had been a success.

Benito Mussolini, "Il Duce" of the Fascist Party and Italy.

By June 1922, the American economy was booming, and Wilson's approval rating was immensely high. Secretary McAdoo was returning from the Genoa Conference, and everything seemed right with the world. There was no immediate business to be attended to; A shakeup had occurred in Egypt, as the British granted it independence on the basis of a continued alliance. Wilson had dedicated the Lincoln memorial, but that was a largely ceremonial affair. However, on October 22nd, an interesting event had occurred. After great unrest in Italy, Benito Mussolini and his far-right fascist party would seize control of Rome and become the youngest Italian premier in history. The Fascist Party, made up of fringe right-wing elements, the disillusioned, and former socialists, would campaign heavily against the Russian model of government.  Mussolini even created a new title for himself: "Il Duce". It proved to be nothing short of interesting, as a member of the League of Nations now had a bona fide dictatorship. Mussolini insisted on building a new Roman Empire, alarming League members and neighboring countries. Italy, however, would remain in the League, albeit fixated at an awkward position.

1922 Congressional Elections:

President Wilson and the Democratic Congress were popular for the most part, and with an improving economy and the country beginning to grasp its new preeminent role on the global stage, the Republicans gained little.

Senate Results:

Democrats: 55 (-1)
Republicans: 41 (+1)

House Results:

Democrats: 232 (-9)
Republicans: 203 (+11)

Well, Just because he wasn't in office during that time period doesn't mean he still doesn't have the stroke. It's really up to Nik to figure out what he's going to do in regards to the Wilson Presidecy but all I say..."Vive Le Stroke!" in regards to Woodrow
