27 seems like a very weird district IMO.  Other than that you had me excited as you moved towards IL, only to head South again Tongue

Also I've been trying to keep a mental count of the balance in congress, and so far I only count 3-4 likely republican seats.

This just shows how liberal and how populated the Northeast is. The republican seats will pick up once when go South and West.

Also we have like 14 more regions before we get to Illinois.

This looks really interesting, though I'm not quite sure why some states/regions/areas/principalities, have zero senators.

The Current Senators part is meant to show if there is a Senator that is currently in the US Senate that resides in that region. After I get through all of the regions I'll then go back to the timeline and candidates will declare for both parties in the various regions. There will be a lot of fun Senator vs Senator primaries!!! =)

Thoughts, comments, questions, concerns, critiques or praises?

Keep going!

I'm just shocked that there isn't a reliably Democratic seat in Appalachia.

The Pittsburgh region is D+1 and the Eastern Ohio/Western West Virginia region is D+1.5. Obama won the Pittsburgh region but lost the Eastern Ohio/Western West Virginia region, yet with the right candidate I would expect Democratic's to win both of these easily. The rest of Appalachia is blood red.

Wow... when it comes to the races, I'm going to be watching the Florida districts closely.  Rubio in a Dem district and Nelson in a (slight) Rep district.

Charlie Crist looks like he'd have a good chance in district 36.

I wonder who'd be running in District 34, my home district...Robert Wexler against Allen West? Debbie Wasserman-Schultz against West? (god, the latter would be awfully ironic, especially considering the comments West has made about Wasserman-Schultz)

Thanks guys for giving me ideas Wink

Also the residency rule for this scenario is that a candidate can run in any region that is apart of their home state. That means that Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio can run in any of Florida's 7 regions. I'm guessing that Bill Nelson will stay in the Orlando region while Rubio will probably run in the Port St. Lucie region.

That will always be the case, but it will be harder for canidates to do that in the future without appearing to be a carpetbagger. In the case of Rubio, he'd be able to run in the Port St. Lucie region with ease because that area of the state likes him and even though he'd lose his Cuban base in Miami, he wouldn't have deal with the very liberal voters.
