I notice that 3rd parties seem to run strongly in the West and South-West. The Bush+Gore totals were relatively low here. Could this affect the 2004 race if Kerry tries to compete here (he'll have to, omitting the South)?

Bush+Gore in %

NM: 95.86%

AZ: 95.62%

NV: 95.50%

CO: 93.14%

Most of 3rd parties votes were for Nader. It doesn't seem that other third party candidates would have been more popular than elsewhere.

I don't know why that is. Alot of candidates poll over 0.3% though, which is strange.  And some of them I never heard of.

There were libertarians and reformist candidate as well, and they did score higher. It goes for more states as well, like Utah, but I only choose to include those that might be competitve there.

The Libertarian ticket of L. Neil Smith and Vin Suprynowicz took .38% in Arizona, somehow.  I don't know who they are.
