I notice that you've left open the possibility of other symbols. I would like to propose the following to be adopted by our great region.
First off, the big three symbols: Regional bird: mockingbird (the state bird of Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas) Regional tree: longlieaf pine (the state tree of Alabama and North Carolina) Regional flower: magnolia ( the state flower of Louisiana and Mississippi)
And now some additional symbols: Regional fruit: peach (GA, SC) Regional vegetable: sweet onion (GA, TX) Regional nut: pecan (AL, TX) Regional dance: square dance (AL, AR, GA, LA, MS, SC, TX) Regional insect: honeybee (AR, GA, LA, MS, NC, TN) Regional reptile: Eastern box turtle (NC, TN) Regional game animal: whitetail deer (AR, MS, SC) Regional game bird: bobwhite quail (GA, TN) Regional game fish: largemouth bass (AL, FL, GA, MS)
