Don't worry guys, I plan on advancing this timeline a bit further during Winter Break. It's just school, it's so damn intense!
Actually, it might be better that I try to get this one out of the way during Winter Break (if I do nothing during said break or am not getting too much into that damn Atlasia timeline).
Anyway, just as a headsup, I WILL BE LESS ACTIVE NEXT SEMESTER. My grades suffered massively this semester and as a result I will have to actually study next semester. Sorry.

I know the pain dude, I undergo this now. Until early December I have to write semestral paperwork with 500 Arabic words and I'm struggling with the grammar. Hope you manage to continue Alfalfa America tl as well as in game, because without you Atlasia Americana would just die.

William H. Murray's Announcement regarding 1940, January 4th, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with German Fuhrer Adolf Hitler

People of America, in this year of 1940 we face perhaps the greatest threat to ever face noble Anglo-Saxon society has ever faced before: the threat of Jew Communism and it's ugly ally British Fabianism. Both ideologies present a grave danger to not just our ally, the noble German Reich, but to America itself. These enemies seek to take vengeance on the American and German peoples for having the will and audacity to dare declare themselves independent peoples, free of the immoral influence and decadance of power hungry French and British tyrants who have since time immemorial sought to enslave the whole of European man under their rule. Let it be known that out of the world powers, the only two who are truly fighting for the cause and freedom of sovereign peoples is the United States of American and the German Reich. God Almighty has granted both our nations the strength and courage to carry out this great task of freeing the people's of Europe from the enslavement of the British and French tyrants that have made it their goal to enslave all people, no matter their creed, under the rule of Fabian Socialism. We have a long road ahead of us, war is never easy or painless. This year, 1940, is very important for us all, this war effort will demand serious effort and many sacrifices for the greater good. Never before will the American character be as tested as it will this year, this year when we begin the liberation of all peoples from the onslaught of Fabian Socialism. Let me assure you all that Fuhrer Hitler has within his heart the very love of freedom and liberty the forefathers of this nation had, a man after which Thomas Jefferson would be proud. Ladies and gentlemen, it's with great pleasure I bring you Adolf Hitler.

Adolf Hitler takes the stage.

America, land of the free, home of the brave, as a child I had heard these words spoken of America, let me assure you that with a great man as William Murray as your president that these words have never been more true. A man who instead of cowering to the prejudices of corrupt businessmen and powerhungry Jew elites took the fight to them. A man who when the global elites seemed almost certain to declare victory over the common man by enslaving the people of this civilized world to a thousand years of darkness in poverty stood headstrong and instituted true government of the peopler, for the people, by the people. It is a great pleasure to call this man more than just my ally, but my friend. Mr. Murray is right, God hath given us the divine duty to free mankind from the plague known as Fabian Socialism, why else would it be that while the rest of the known developed world fell prey to the greed of powerhungry businessmen our two nations stood strong and mighty and now enjoy periods of economic greatness unlike any seen before while others have seen only despair? It is because we have been granted a task unlike any other, the task to rid the world of the Fabian Jew Communist elite that has been plotting to subvert the rights of man. The American people, as a voice, started the revolution against this elite when they voted William H. Murray as president of the United States. May God Bless this great nation.

Hitler gets a roaring ovation from the majority German-American crowd gathered in Philadelphia. Hitler was very popular with the American people, people came from all over the nation just to get the opportunity to shake his hand. The swastika, the symbol of the National Socialist Worker's Democratic Party that Hitler was the leader of, could be found gracing the homes of millions of Americans and his book Mein Kampf was read in classrooms all across America.  In fact, in some opinion polls even Murray wasn't as popular as Adolf Hitler.

So it was that freedom would die from men claiming to be saving it......

Suddenly, he opened his blurry eyes to find himself in a hospital bed,

he don't remember exactly why he's here, this place feels so unfamiliar, so cold, so distant from past happier memories. It was not just this construct that felt so alien to him, but the air, there was something pervasive in the air: fear. He had no idea how long he had been out, time had lost all meaning in the world of the dismobiled. He looks around, the room is dark, there is not even an attending nurse or doctor, just him and his life support machine. Something just isn't right the man thought when suddenly he felt a most odd sensation in his toes......as if they were moving.
And then the door opened and the lights came on.

"Thank you again for coming again Mrs. Roosevelt. Well we haven't really noticed any significant progr.......OH MY GOD!!!!"

Finally Franklin Delano Roosevelt had awoke.........

New York Times January 14th, 1940:
Roosevelt comes out of coma!

After four and a half years of being in a comatose state after an assasination attempt on his life by Tammany Hall hitman Giuseppe Zangara, former New York Governor Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the founder of the now dead Liberty Party, came out of his comatose state three nights ago around 7:30.  According to doctors this recovery by Roosevelt is nothing short of incredible, in fact many of the doctors who are involved in FDR's recover expected FDR to never recover.  What is even more incredible than coming out of his comatose state this early is a medical phenomena that none of the attending doctors can explain.  After spending the better of four years in a hospital bed, Roosevelt, who was crippled by the effects of polio, is lacking the paralysis that had plagued him since August 1921.  He is still confined to a wheelchair, mostly due to severe numbness of the legs, but the personal therapists at the hospital estimate that with as little as two to three months of therapy Roosevelt will have gained full mobility of his legs to the point of being able to walk without the aid of legbraces or the use of a wheelchair.
With Roosevelt's recovery however, many politicians around the country have voiced concern about how Roosevelt will react to the dramatic change in political environment around the nation.  Before the assasination attempt, Roosevelt, as the leader of the then growing Liberty Party, was one of the most vocal opponents of President William H. Murray, often voicing opposition to some of the President's policies over the radiowaves.  He was especially critical of the President's excessive use of the National Guard to enforce the provisions of the New Society on the basis of being "on questionable constitutional grounds".  And it wasn't only the politics of President Murray that Roosevelt was opposed to, but the President's rhetoric, as shown in this interview done with Roosevelt in March of 1935:

"So Governor, let me ask you what personal qualities of the President do you find fault in?"
"Well George I'll be honest the New Society was great when it started, we needed to take quick drastic measures to fix the economy and to create legislation that would help prevent the possibility of another depression of the magnitude of the one this nation is still going through.  The voters spoke last fall, they do not approve of the direction that Murray is taking this nation, they oppose the nationalization of banks, they oppose the liberal use of the National Guard to enforce financial regulation, the American people wanted strong banking reform but they did not want a total government takeover of all banking operations in this country.  It is politics like this, the politics of fear, that I am against.  In times of hardship like these the last thing we need is to make people more fearful, it is times like these that people need to find hope, find optimism, that things will be better than they are now and to find comradeship in fellow man.  William H. Murray is an opportunist, using the fears of the people to advance his own agenda and not that of the people of this nation, he is creating an environment of fear unlike any seen in this country.  That is why me and others have taken a stand by forming the Liberty Party, a party that embraces all of the best qualities of progressive democracy: a party that recognizes the need for a compassionate government for the people, of the people, and by the people.  We can not for long leave our fate in the hands of the current party system where neither party no longer truly cares about representing the rights of all and not just for some."

In this interview, which took place nearly five years ago, was with a very motivated Roosevelt, one who was leading a party that was gaining ground all across the country that gained enough power in Congress in the 1934 midterm elections to end the Democratic majority in both the House and the Senate (though Democrats still held a plurality).  It seemed the Liberty Party was destined for greatness, with many experts predicting it could replace the Republican Party as the main competition to the Democratic Party.  Everything was going great, until Tammany Hall decided to take matters into their own hands after Roosevelt implicated them while on trial on the misplaced charge of aiding IRA members with arms during the Irish Revolutionary War.  The result?  With their leader thrown into what many feared to be a long term coma, the Liberty Party suddenly became more and more discouraged about the possibility of success, resulting in a mass exodus of politicans all around the country defecting to the Democratic Party due to the widespread popularity of President Murray after busting Tammany Hall and bringing about economic recovery.  As a result President Murray would end up winning an electoral mandate, the highest popular vote percentage of any candidate since the days of the Era of Great Feelings and the only president since George Washington to win every electoral vote.
However, that was nothing compared to what would end up being the death knell to the Liberty Party.  Desperate about the condition of their party after the losses of 1936, Liberty Party members stated plotting devious plans, one of which: the assasination of the Supreme Court Justices, was successful.  The hope of the Party was that by eliminating the Supreme Court that would jeopardize the stability of government and cause radical revolution, but due to the strong conviction of President Murray it never happened.  The result?  Former Massachusetts Governor Joseph Kennedy, a reluctant member of the Liberty Party (who close friends say joined the Liberty Party out of spite for the President and the popularity of the party in Massachusetts) came forward and admitted that the Liberty Party was behind the assasination of the Supreme Court Justices.  The end result was the execution of 36 Liberty Party members of Congress and the eradication of the Liberty Party, all of this occuring while Roosevelt was in a comatose state.
With Roosevelt's absence from politics these past four and a half years, there is much pondering about how he would perceive the United States of 1940.  Will he be shocked and appalled by the actions of his own party while he was out, or will he like Senator Vandenburg question the circumstances of these events?  Will he finally find common ground with the Murray Administration, or will he return as a chief opponent to the Administration?
Hopefully this will be made clear in the coming months......[/i]

The Final Solution:

In February of 1940 in order to combat the growing Quebec resistance, especially around the area of Montreal, President Murray and his cabinet members come up with this plan called "The Final Solution" thought up by Secretary of Defense Harry Hines Woodring. The strategy called for five things:

1. Elimination of all hostile combatants on sight.
2. Unless otherwise directed, take no prisoners of enemy combatants.
3. All non-US military subject were liable to be considered "hostile combatants" if subjects "get in the way" of US Army operations.
4. Civilian targets, especially in crucial battles, are considered disposable.
5. In order to shift the war in the favor the United States, a policy of total war shall be declared, meaning that all vital infrastructure and agriculture are disposable at the whim of the army commanders.

Once news of this "Final Solution" became public knowledge, the American public was outraged. The once thought "invincible" Murray Administration suddenly found itself in danger for the 1940 US Presidential election as the Republican Party suddenly became mobilized around this issue with many frontrunners, especially among whatever remained of it's isolationist wing, and a very powerful third party resurgence.........

The New Deal: Franklin Delano Roosevelt's famous speech in Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois:

March 26th, 1940:

It is a cold dreary day outside where 30,000 people have assembled at Soldier Field to hear a now recovered Franklin Delano Roosevelt speak. What he is to talk to them about they have no idea, just that it concerned the future of the American People. He takes the stage:

My fellow Americans, I presume that you all have heard about the atrocities now being done to the Canadian people by our own army, by our own commanders who we have trusted to fight for truth and justice, well I can not in good faith continue to support an administration that has decided in this ultimate fight of good vs. evil has so chosen to fight with evil. Make no mistake my friends, Adolf Hitler's Nazy Germany is a great evil, an evil so corrupt and vile that it has already claimed the lives of millions of innocent bystanders. Oh wait, you mean you have heard the cries, haven't heard the cries of millions and millions of Roma Gypsies, Polish Jews, and Jehovah's Witnesses who have all died because of this Alliance of Convenience? I can not lie, this current allegiance with Nazi Germany, no matter how beneficial it has been for our place in the world, must come to an end, for the longer this nation lends it's support to evil regimes true good will never reawaken in this dark world. A world ruled by fear is a world coming near it's end, an end that we must not allow to happen, just as this nation can no longer afford the politics of fear that have become almost commonplace, a broken political system so fearful that it has lowered itself down to representing the interests of only one section of society, the Segregationist South, it the United States Supreme Court. These empowered judges, with no check on their ability to decide landmark constitutionary acts, have made permanent the separation of the races, between black and white and brown without ever coming to where such opinions truly matter, the people of this nation.
You and I are on a rendevous with Destiny, we can choose now to fight to preserve this, the last best hope for humanity, or we can do nothing and watch as the nation our forefather's died to build, this city on a shining hill, this shining beacon of freedom and liberty and just humanity, descends into a thousand years of darkness. That is why today I am here to announce a brand New Deal to Americans, a deal that shall include all Americans: yellow, black, white, brown, men and women and children of all colors and creeds under this great banner of freedom, humanity, and justice. Today I announce the beginning of a new American Dream: The Progressive Democratic dream, the only true humane vision of this nation's bright future. I, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, hereby declare my candidacy for the Presidency on this new Progressive Democratic Party ticket.

FDR gets a standing ovation from many in the 30,000 plus size audience, and polls released the next day showed that if the race was the next day, FDR would run neck in neck with President Murray.

I think you will be surprised with what I do with FDR, even more with how the next few years will turn out.

Al Smith is the local Gin Rummy champion of cell block 2CA, but the guards have made sure he gets "extra treatment" for his status as an "enemy of the state".
Joe Kennedy is in a nice plush jail where he has his own yard for exercise and stuff. THe guards even bring him alcohol to drink his sorrows away.

The End of an Era

For the past three months, President William H. Murray had successfully hidden the fact he had a heart condition from the American public. However, it was steadily getting worse as news of Roosevelt's recovery began to speed up. Then one day, on March 26th, 1940, as he watched FDR's "New Deal" Speech at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois, many observers said that "he stopped functioning immediately, like his heart had turned off in that instant". He would be rushed to the emergency room and after twenty minutes of being operated on by doctors President William H. Murray would be declared "Dead on Arrival".

32nd United States President William H. Murray of Oklahoma: November 21st, 1869-March 26th, 1940

With the death of President Murray, Vice President John N. Garner of Texas would be sworn in as President at 6:31 PM by Chief Justice Heflin of Alabama.
