Far from the most charismatic, but George W. Bush was very underrated as a speaker and did have an above average amount of charisma, especially compared to his opponents Ozone Al and John French Kerry.

Until after he was reelected yes. I did see charisma though at times when campaigning for the GOP in 2002 and even for himself in 2004. Still, he's far from the most charismatic. As a speaker he had stutters and uh uh the uh stumbles lol poor guy, but compared to the average person I'd say he was average.

I wouldnt even say one of the most charismatic candidates, when you look at people like Lamar  Alexander, John Edwards, Gary Hart.

I didn't mean to ignore you buddy I clicked the wrong button. Glad to be chatting again!

Reagan deserves alot of credit. Aids wasn't his fault it was because a group of guys coming home from Africa couldn't keep it in their pants and I doubt drug use was the worst of our problems. However, I even knew when I was little that it was at its highest rate ever. The deficits weren't good and they never are but alot of that has to do with the lower taxes buying goods that weren't made in the US. I noticed Eisenhower at the bottom of alot of lists. I put him last because he never seemed that appealing to me in the footage that we have of him.

I've never understood this common understanding that Americans have about Reagan being charismatic. Is a good speech writer all it takes to be viewed as charismatic these days?

Reagan was a professional actor. He knew how to present himself to an audience.

Exactly. He knew how to appeal to people's emotions, rather than use reason to appeal to people.

sounds like Clinton taking advantage of people's emotions in a bad economy

Reagan completely ignored the aids epidemic. If had been a bunch of rich white kids getting aids instead of gay guys, he would have been at the front trying to stop the spread.

So it was Reagan's fault that those guys in Africa fooled around? He viewed it as God's punishment and he had every right to view it that way. For the record, I don't agree with that view.

Don't forget Obama.

See I think that without his teleprompter he stutters and sounds boring. There are also times where he goes too far and appears like an angry man.
