jfk is most likely the nominee. He of course does a lot better in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Illinois (areas with high catholic populations), but probably does worse in the bible belt.

Not JFK. Too young and inexperienced for the party bosses. Not Kefauver either, as the party bosses despised his guts. He'll win the primaries however, so he will have some support on the balloting. It's either going to be Harriman or LBJ depending on whether the big city bosses or southern bosses get their way. But not Kefauver or JFK. Remember the primaries didn't lead to nominees until 1972. Prior to that, it was still up to the party bosses. JFK needed the primaries to prove he was able to win Protestant votes in 1960, but had HHH beaten him there he wouldn't have won the nomination. LBJ or Symington would have. In 1968 McCarthy wouldn't have won even if RFK hadn't entered the race.
