The Union still had two whole corps fresh and unused after the battle. The Confederates only had two fresh brigades who hadn't seen serious combat. The whole position itself was unsustainable. The south blew its chance at winning that battle on the afternoon of July 1st. After that the battle was lost. Turning the right would have amounted to nothing because federal cavalry arrived on the hagerstown pike on July 3rd and that would have been right behind the confederate lines on LRT.
sadly that is true
longstreet was the big opposer to picketts charge
other than gettysburg his attack at chickamauga was executed brilliantly and had he been able to press it more the union would have been extemely hindered and allowed the origional plan of moving the majority of the tennesee troops into the army of northern virginia and giving Lee near identical numbers to the swelling union army
