Dark Green = unwinnable
Medium Green = unwinnable by any likely candidate



These states, plus DC (which Reagan never won) represent 190 electoral votes which the Republican party has essentially no chance of winning. Note that in every case Reagan or Bush I was the last Republican to win them.
