Does an indictment coming today or tomorrow have any immediate and practical consequences for Trump? Or does that just mean there's going to be a trial and at some point he needs to attend the court room? Will Trump be prohibited to leave the United States?

IANAL, but Politico says:

Quote
Once the sealed indictment is delivered to the judge, the DA’s office would discuss Trump’s surrender with his counsel, according to a court official who, like the others, was granted anonymity to discuss internal planning procedures. If Trump were to not surrender, a warrant would be issued for his arrest.

Whether Trump would be handcuffed is a decision that would be made by the district attorney, the court official said. He would be finger printed and a mug shot would be taken, though he is not expected to be “perp-walked” or paraded before the public in handcuffs, the official said.

Not sure of the timeline, but usually it's a few days?

People are over the Stormy Daniels bulls**t and have been since 2018. This is ridiculous.

All the public needs to know is "Trump indicted on criminal charges." It has a different effect than "Trump paid hush money to someone."

The world is watching Biden carefully. He needs to distance himself from the DNC/Bragg.
Which won't be hard, as he has literally nothing to do with this case.

Good thing the justice system doesn’t make decisions based on what people are “over” or not.

We have for decades :

Nixon
Clinton
Wall Street Bakers
People at GITMO

Etc

There should have been criminal charges for AT LEAST two of these. You decide which.

DeSantis is formidable because he is young. A Biden-DeSantis debate would be sad.
It sure worked out for Paul Ryan!

They have lots of great 50% off deals, though. Especially if you go to the outlet stores. Shirts for $6!

Wait, so....

he is 100% getting arrested now, correct? Unless Florida won't extradite him (lol) or unless he flees the country... r8ght? Somebody please help me out here.
He has to present himself to the court in Manhattan within a certain time period (to be agreed upon between his attorneys and the court itself). He'll only be arrested if he doesn't.

Trump:

Quote
They only brought this Fake, Corrupt, and Disgraceful Charge against me because I stand with the American People, and they know that I cannot get a fair trial in New York!

These Corrupt Democrat Prosecutors, all from poorly run and very dangerous Democrat run cities, are not going to choose the Republican Nominee, or the next President of the United States!
Well, maybe he'll get a fair trial in Georgia.

DOJ reportedly 'irritated' by Manhattan DA's decision to indict Trump because they believe hush money charges are weak and could damage more serious Georgia electoral fraud and January 6 probes'

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11922971/Justice-Department-irritated-Manhattan-DAs-indictment-Donald-Trump.html

Yeah, that sounds like a bunch of BS. Each case has no bearing on the other, and whether or not one case is stronger than another doesn't affect anything. The Georgia and 1/6 probes are their own things, they will proceed with or without an indictment on this issue.

Yeah I don't know why so many people, including a lot on the left, are saying stuff like "Democrats are fools for doing the NY charges first"... what does that even mean? The DOJ, Georgia, and NY aren't coordinating stuff lol, the investigations have nothing to do with each other.
''

You're niave if you believe the bolded.

Even Democrat Andrew Cuomo said: "It’s a coincidence that Bragg goes after Trump and Tish James goes after Trump and Georgia goes after Trump? That’s all a coincidence? I think it feeds the cynicism and that’s the cancer in our body politic right now."
The opposite of "coincidence" is not "conspiracy."

We may not even get to see the mugshot, depending on how the negotiations with Trump’s lawyers go. Sad

How in the world is that up for negotiation with Trump's lawyers in the first place?

When ordinary people are arrested, there is no negotiation.

"Oh, but I don't want to have a mug shot officer, what if I..."
He’ll have to take it, but public release is a different story.

I'm not sure there's anything he can do since the judge has now stated he sees these last minute efforts as disingenuous. I think the judge has to approve the attorneys leaving the case so maybe even that wouldn't work. I think he will keep trying things though because it diverts the prosecution's attention away from the case when it has to respond to all these filings.

This case is a joke and should be thrown out and I say this as somebody who loathes Trump and wishes he'd just kick the bucket already. The fact that this judge hasn't tossed this case proves that he's a hack because any legitimate honest judge would've dismissed it.

Trump's best strategy is to delay. He's not getting a fair trial in Manhattan. He could try and fire his lawyers and if that doesn't work, feign illness. I do wonder what would happen if he just hunkered down in Mar-a-Lago and refused to show up? New York courts have zero jurisdiction over Florida and DeSantis could block any extradition requests.

Perhaps GOP governors could come together and economically boycott New York state until the case is dropped (i.e bar official travel, prohibit trade, ban flights, etc?)

Nice try but two federal judges have signalled that the case is serious.
Try harder next time "Trump hater".

It is a joke case. Ask yourself, why does Mr. Bragg refuse to prosecute violent criminals plaguing his jurisdiction, yet finds enough time to stretch the law to go after his political opponents? Hush money payments? Seriously? How about deal with those teens who keep sucker punching old ladies?
I don't think "teens who keep sucker punching old ladies" usually get tried in federal court.

I don't have anything of substance to add to this thread (other than wondering how lung jury selection might take), but I do think the current poll attached is funny.

I don't necessarily see a problem with him attending his son's graduation if we're still in jury selection by that point.

I'd have to find the tweets but I'm pretty sure Trump's lawyer was dinged multiple times by the judge for saying things he shouldn't/things that aren't true.
Trump's lawyers are me when I haven't figured out a case in Ace Attorney, I see.

Sure looks to me that Trump is going to be held in contempt. Shame the prosecution isn't seeking jail time, but maybe this will actually shut him up going forward.

Trump has posted on Truth Social about the judge following the gag order hearing. I know he's a dingus, but I'm always surprised at how big a dingus.

No ruling on the gag order yet. Pecker is back on the stand.
I assume we're not getting one until after this current session.

I should've known there was something wrong with the cross-examination. It seemed WAY too solid for Bove.

The jury probably won't react favorably to "yeah, the defense basically lied to you."

So far it seems like the defense's tactic is to cast doubt on Daniels's initial story and to suggest that a relationship with a tabloid is standard for candidates. But I'm not sure how either discredits the prosecution's argument, or Packer as a witness -- because the crime isn't based on the story itself but how it was paid for after, right? Caveat that I am not a lawyer.

Sorry for the double post, but I don't understand this line of questioning. If the defense is trying to argue that Pecker had non-campaign business reasons for the catch-and-kill scheme, why would they establish that the company wanted nothing to do with the Daniels story but bought it anyway?

Cohen I believe has gone dark until his testimony so I don't think that's a problem for now. Don't know about Stormy.
If she's cooperating with the prosecution, I'm sure they'll advise her to go similarly dark.
