You might as well add Australia to NATO at that point. There is a reason why the US maintains multiple important alliances in the Pacific.
Sure, any country who wants to join NATO should be considered, regardless of geography.
I prefer the idea of an Asian NATO. Why should Slovakia or North Macedonia have to get involved via Article 5 if China invades Taiwan?
For the same reasons someone in Portland Oregon should get involved if the Russians invade Slovakia or Macedonia. It's not like it's going to be much difference to them other than length of the flight in the back of a USAF C17.
But I'd be fine if NATO was transformed into a global security alliance (with current all members' approval). It would have to involve fundamental changes in the organization's purpose, since NATO was established as an explicitly European military alliance.
a global NATO of all willing liberal democracies would be a good idea. We could troll the baddies with the name too, like Global Peace Force or Earth Defence Council.
