I must admit that I've been somewhat disturbed by Senator Nation's comments as well as the actions of the UAC in general over the last few days.

I was greatly offended at the way the UAC targeted Harry's position as President Pro Tempore of the Senate.  Harry's disposition so close to the election displays the hubris of many of the members of the UAC.  To quote Senator Nation, "They call us a joke, but they fail to realize we hold three senate seats and a presidency that the voters elected--that hardly sounds like a joke to me."

I would like to remind Senator Nation that the UAC has no more claim to the position of President Pro Tempore of the Senate--nor of any other leadership position--than any other party on the forum.  Need I remind him that the republicans also hold three seats in the Senate?  The AIP is now nipping at the UAC's heels.  It seems to me that many members of the UAC--particularly those in the senate--are trying to have it both ways.  They insist that their party has not hijacked forum politics, yet implicit in the above speech is the kind of victim mentality that suggests the speaker believes that the UAC has some kind of inherent right to the leadership of the forum due to its popularity.

I have therefore undertaken the business of creating a senate majority.  Actually, I believe I have already created a senate majority.  I plan on reminding everyone on the forum that nothing can be accomplished without cooperation across party lines.  No party has the right to hegemony in forum politics.

Respectfully,

Senator StevenNick

Firstly, what do you mean we "targeted" Harry, I merely challenged him to a PPT election because we had just held another Senate Election, I never mentioned the fact that the UAC were the majority (although they don't really hold a majority) party.

I wasn't the one who raised the issue in the first place, I believe texasgurl asked if we were to elect a new PPT so I announced my candidacy.

I would have thought that at the moment the UAC holds more claim to the Presidency (of the forum that is) as a UAC member was just elected to that position although the AFIP also holds claim as they have the current President. No party holds a monopoly on the office though and I, nor have any of my fellow members, ever infered that we do as far as I know.

I don't think Nation was implying we have some kind of right to hold every position on the forum because clearly we do not, I think his point was that he is fed up with people insulting us for no reason other than they think we are too powerful or dislike us. It is not right and Mr. Fresh, a Republican whom I hold in high esteem, possibly the most esteem on the fantasy forums has deplored the actions of some on this and I salute him for it.

Also, I believe the Republicans only hold two Senate seats, not three as I believe StatesRights is a member of the States Rights Party, not the Republican Party and it may only be one, I am not sure but was it not mentioned before by Hughento that the party you represent in the Senate is the one you were elected from and, Tweed, elected as a Democrat, would therefore be a Democrat. That could be wrong, it is something Hughento once said I believe.

I have never claimed that our party does hold hegemony or has the right to hegemony over these forums, nor will I ever as I don't believe that and I would appreciate it if you would not insinuate it please.
