It's hard for me to say prior to the modern era, other than Adams & Son, Lincoln (obviously), USG, SGC, Teddy, FDR. This is from an earlier thread. Obviously I lean heavily into some of my idols like Estes Kefauver, Robert F. Kennedy, Jesse Jackson, and Bernie Sanders. Also, while Al Gore would have been a fine president, I wonder what would have happened had Bradley taken off or if Gore had made him VP or another progressive instead of that awful, foul Lieberman.

1952: Kefauver/Eisenhower
1956: Kefauver/Eisenhower
1960: Kennedy
1964: Johnson
1968: Kennedy/Humphrey
1972: Chisholm/McGovern
1976: Brown/Carter
1980: Kennedy/Carter
1984: Jackson/Mondale
1988: Jackson/Dukakis
1992: Brown/Clinton
1996: Clinton
2000: Bradley/Gore
2004: Dean/Kerry
2008: Obama
2012: Obama
2016: Sanders/Clinton
2020: Sanders/Biden

Why would you choose Eisenhower over Adlai Stevenson II, since Kefauver was the candidate for vice president on Stevenson's slate?

I think Eisenhower was a good president for his time, but I like Kefauver better. I don't really rate Adlai Stevenson at all, and the fact that he was nominated in such a non-democratic fashion in 1952, as was standard back then, would have angered me against the Democratic Party.
