He appears to have been a decent human being on a personal level and was undeniably an electoral titan (quite surreally given the... um... tone of his public performances - preserved via newsreel footage - and messaging, but then appeals to Order often went down well in the 1920s and 30s), but he was also one of the very worst Prime Ministers of the 20th century, a fundamentally complacent man beguiled by easy options and who, consequentially, presided over a series of catastrophic decisions in both domestic policy and foreign affairs, the full consequences of which frequently only became truly apparent later. He agreed to lend his image to promote the products of a particular tobacco company, which is so on the nose that it is almost painful.
Betraying my awful knowledge of interwar Britain but what were the major domestic failures beyond failing to re-arm adequately?
