Also Obama won male vote ? Seems good news.

Waiting for him winning the white vote in 2012...

vote among whites who are not evangelical:

Penn. and N.J. inconclusive - both had McCain narrowly winning whites, but the exit polls did not specify evangelicals (even with few evangelicals, their GOP support was likely enough for Obama to have carried white non-evangelicals in both states).

Much attention is paid to the fact that Dems could not be competitive on the national level without heavy minority support, but once evangelicals are removed, Obama didn't do so badly among whites.

The difference between the Upper and Deep South is interesting, though usual comments of concern about exit poll details apply...

True, especially since "evangelical" is self-determined. Obviously there must not be a lot of non-evangelical whites in AR, TN, or WV.

The gender gap in Georgia must have been pretty large.  Anyone know what it is?

I'm sure someone else has already posted these maps somewhere on here, but here are the maps for white men and white women. The gender gap is astonishing. Blue for McCain, red for Obama, green for ties, and gray for no data available (in D.C.).

Here is an approximate map of all minorities based on CNN's exit polls:

The home state effect can clearly be seen in the minority vote in AZ. It was the only state where McCain did reasonably well with Hispanics. Did he do better than average with blacks too (as in actually getting above say 5 percent of the vote)?

Alaska to a lesser extent may be a home state effect for Palin also, plus the fact that the minorities there are Native Americans.
