I've been looking into it - haven't figured it out yet.  could be long searches in the forum, or possibly bots consuming a lot of processor power.  everything looks fine... but it get these slow response occurrences...

Yeah, same here right now. It takes about 3 minutes for some pages to load.

Hopefully this is fixed until election night, so that we don`t have a complete breakdown of the site like on Election Night 2008 ...

Any notice of forum performance bogging down today?  The hard drive was filling up and I removed several GB of server logs - UNIX uses swap space a lot and the lack of space could have been impacting the performance.

To be honest, I have been noticing periods of this for the better part of a few years now.  Never brought it up.  But it doesn't always happen during period of high traffic.  Often times, it will be three in the morning and I have to wait 5 minutes for a post to register... or often times it will time out while posting, or while I am looking up something.
