January 3, 2008
Mitt Romney wins the Republican primary in Iowa:

Mitt Romney 51%
Mike Huckabee 34%

Mike Huckabee, putting up embarassing results in a state where he was expected to do well, concedes and withdraws his campaign for the nomination.

Romney makes wins in New Hampshire, Michigan, Nevada, Hawaii, Florida and Maine. Giuliani, using the support of Mike Huckabee, wins in South Carolina and Louisianna. Brownback and Hunter have already withdrawn their campaigns and are getting behind Giuliani, in an anti-Romney move.

Alabama - Giuliani
Alaska - Romney
Arizona - Romney
Arkansas - Giuliani
California - Romney
Colorado - Romney
Connecticut - Romney
Delaware - Romney

That might be the ugliest campaign ever. Hillary would get mad at Romney making smart remarks. I can see it now. It really would come down to Ohio and Missouri. I gave Romney the benefit of the doubt because he's not a Washington insider and could escape the housing meltdown easier than McCain.

Fast forwarding to June 3, 2008:

June 3, 2008
The Republican nomination has already gone to Mitt Romney. The Democratic nomination, however, is a tight race between Senators Hillary Clinton (D-New York) and Barack Obama (D-Illinois). The two pivotal states are South Dakota and Montana. Hillary wins each by razor-thin margins, becoming the Democratic nominee for President of the U.S. in 2008.

Now it comes down to the candidates' running mates. Considerations for the Clinton campaign include Senator Joe Biden (D-Delaware), Senator Evan Bayh (D-Indiana), Governor Tim Kaine (D-Virginia), Governor Kathleen Sebelius (D-Kansas), Governor Bill Richardson (D-New Mexico), Senator Jack Reed (D-Rhose Island), and Senator Chris Dodd (D-Connecticut).

The Romney campaign is considering Senator John McCain (R-Arizona), Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), Governor Charlie Crist (R-Florida), Governor Tim Pawlenty (R-Minnesota), Governor Sarah Palin (R-Alaska), and former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge.

August 23, 2008
Hillary Clinton shocks the media by announcing at a Norfolk, Virginia rally that her opponent, Senator Barack Obama, will be her running mate.

August 29, 2008
Mitt Romney announces at a Columbus, Ohio rally that Senator Lindsay Graham of South Carolina will be his running mate.

The polls show Romney with a slight lead. Because Hillary is a Southerner and Graham is liberal, North Carolina and Virginia are hotly contested. Romney's status as a Northeasterner gives him a better than normal showing in New Hampshire, while Minnesota is wavering due to Governor Pawlenty's unwavering support for the Republican ticket.

August 25, 2008
The 2008 Democratic National Convention convenes in Denver, Colorado. On the first day, speeches from former President Bill Clinton and Maya Soetoro-Ng (vice-presidential nominee Barack Obama's stepsister) electrified the crowd. Also, former Congressman Jim Leech (R) spoke, endorsing Clinton/Obama. He is one of many Republicans to do so in this hectic election year.

August 26, 2008
Barack Obama electrified the crowd. Others who speak include former Vice-President Al Gore, Senator John Kerry (D-Massachusetts), and Senator Evan Bayh (D-Indiana).

August 27, 2008
Speakers include former President Jimmy Carter, Governor Tim Kaine, Governor Bill Richardson, and Senator Dick Durbin (D-Illinois). It culminates in an electrifying speech from Hillary Clinton (which is, ironically, outwatched by Obama's speech).

September 1, 2008
First Lady Laura Bush and Ann Romney both speak.

September 2, 2008
President George W. Bush, First Lady Laura Bush, Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT), Fred Thompson, Senator Norm Coleman (R-Minnesota) and Congressman John Boehner (R-Ohio) all speak.

September 3, 2008
Among todays speakers are Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, and John McCain. Vice-Presidential nominee Lindsay Graham spoke as well, but is not well recieved. Many delegates are seen wearing signs reading "RINO" around there neck, with Romney's face in the "R" and Graham's face in the "O."

September 4, 20008
Republican minee Mitt Romney delivers an electrifying speech, saying: "I know that many of you are unhappy with the choice that the party made, and I can respect that. Let me assure that this ticket is 100% effective and 100% American. Conservtism will make a comeback, and that comeback will happen in 2008."

The polls are tighter than ever with a slight lead for Hillary:

September
The U.S. economy crashes. As many people loose jobs, they blame the Republican Administration of George W. Bush. The polls show drastic changes:

The polls are an even 269/269 tie between Clinton and Romney.

September 26, 2008
During the first debate (centered around national security), a few questions on the economy snuck in. Polls were overall divided:

Clinton 49%
Romney 49%

October 2, 2008
The vice-presidential debate includes questions about a wide array of subjects, most of which Obama did better on:

If Romney or Clinton Were Elected and Died, Who Would You Want As President? Obama 56%
Graham 31%
Undecided 13%

On the same day as the debate, Senator Clinton stops campaigning in order to craft a bailout package to help the economy. Senator Obama will maintain campaign duties in her stead.

October 7, 2008
Senator Clinton and Governor Romney participate in the second debate, a town-hall. Most questions were on the economy, and Romney critisized Senator Clinton for wanting to bail out the rich instead of help normal Americans. Clinton called Romney a "rich elitist." Polls are also evenly tied:

Romney 47%
Clinton 47%
Undecided 6%

October 26, 2008
The next debate was not a town-hall, but was on the economy anyway. Most polls indicate a victory for Romney as his charges that she cares about big corporations and not normal Americans stick.

Romney 51%
Clinton 47%
Undecided 1%

Why would Clinton, a figure popular in the rust belt, lose to multimillionaire Romney, whom most Pennsylvanians would probably resent (especially in the wake of the financial crisis)?

Romney is able to manipulate people using Clinton's support for the bailouts.

Clinton/Obama (D) 245
Romney/Graham (R) 190

Midnight, November 5, 2008 - FOX News Election Headquarters

"Hello, is midnight, and we are making two more projections: Montana and Alaska are both going for Mitt Romney tonight."

Romney/Graham (R) 260
Clinton/Obama (D) 252

OK GUYS, PLEASE COMMENT!!!!

November 6, 2008 - FOX News Election Headquarters

9:00 am - "The Electoral College is a close 252-260, with Romney in the lead. North Carolina and Missouri have not yet voted. Results from North Carolina are expected to come in about one hour."

Noon - "BREAKING NEWS: The results from North Carolina are in, and we can say with clear certainty that Hillay Clinton is the victor in that state. North Carolina will go for Hillary Clinton by a 0.13% margin, putting her at 267 Electors."

November 7, 2008
Senator Clinton and Governor Romney release a joint statement:
It is obvious that the results of the presidential election are not coming in anytime soon, so we are going to wade the hard times out. Missouri, eventually, will make a decision, and we will respect it, so as to not cause an agonizing media circus like the year 2000.

November 19, 2008 - FOX News Election Headquarters
1:00pm - "BREAKING NEWS, we can now project that Missouri has voted for Senator Clinton, giving her 278 Electoral votes, and making her the first female President of the U.S."

Clinton/Obama (D) 278
Romney/Graham (R) 260

Hello? Comments, suggestions, analysis? I need some cooperation here. It's my first TL, I know, but don't be harsh (:
