I guess for a little bit. But I am kind of good at drawing the maps.

So Denver and Seattle didn't seem to care much about Reagan's conservatives. I guess that's because he was a regional candidate.
Or did Anderson's candidacy split the liberal vote and Reagan won with a plurality?

Yeah, I'm guessing that if it wern't for Anderson Carter probably would've won WA-7 and CO-1; they were both very close.

Excellent, thanks a lot. So the Marin district came in and took a bit of San Francisco it looks like? Anderson did pretty well in those districts south of SF, didn't he? Did he also do pretty well in the west LA county coastal district, pretty much the predecessor of the current 36th.

Nah, too depressing. A map of 1964 in the north and west might be interesting, though.

Avert your eyes Lewis! Avert your eyes!!!
1972 Presidential Election, results by congressional district
But for those of whom like the map, you may view it in better quality at the Gallery.
FYI: The Pittburgh and Philly districts were guessed....again. And 4 CDs in Brooklyn were not accounted for in the book. There are also some slight differences between this map and the 1972 regional CD maps. But nothing big.
Edit: CA-10 corrected.

Although this is not a presidential map, I thought I might just throw this in for the heck of it.

Didn't a Republican (Robin Beard) represent TN-06 (now mostly TN-07) in 1974?

This opens the door to a whole bunch of possibilities and work for you, Fuzzy.
Since you did a nationwide 1972 PResident Election Results by CD recently why not do a 1972 House election map to compare and marvel at ticket splitting on an advanced scale.
Too bad you can't do really old ones. 1920 President and House by CD would be great.

1956 new york all ike
26 71.1%
27 73.5%

29 77.6%
30 59.1%
31 77.5%

39 71%
40 66.4%
41 61.2%
42 64.8%

Ouch. Its interesting that Stevenson lost the Buffalo district. Even McGovern and Mondale won that district. It seems like 1956 was the last election where the republicans were competitive in the urban areas.
