Maybe 1920?  I know Manhattan and the Bronx in NYC were pretty close, so Davis probably won something there.

Bush H.W. taking Cook County in IL, winning some of upstate NY and Clinton winning Montana. Thats odd.

1996 Presidential Election, Results by Congressional District

Clinton winning Eastern Washington State by the Idaho boder, winning most of South Jersey including the Jersey Shore area too. Colorado is all Republican as is Nevada. That wouldn't happen now.

Districts where Gore outperformed Clinton (by 1996 lines)



It looks like Gore outperformed Clinton in part of the I-4 Corridor that starts from Daytona Beach and goes to the Orlando area maybe.




NC-12 is yellow, which means it's in doubt.  And it looks like Gore did better in VA-8 than Clinton did in 1996.  I'm not exactly sure, but I think Virginia's 8th CD stayed pretty much the same, even though the state's map was edited in 1998 due to gerrymendering.  

I think NYC's districts may have switched around a bit as well, so that part of the map may not be perfect.



But everything else is fine.

The Republicans had a couple seats in Western Northern Washingston State. They did well in Washington State in 1994. Weird to see how the party shift in Washington State on this thread throughout the regions in Washington State!

Few observations:
AR, LA, and OK permitted one not to tabulate for unopposed candidates. Second, I find it interesting how Republican VA was before the rest of the south was. They had a 9-1 delegation in 81 and 82.

Whats striking about that map is how many electoral votes Illinois, Ohio,  Pennsylvania, Michigan and New York have lost. How many electoral votes Florida, California, and Texas have gained.

95th House of Representatives  (1976)

A Dem Represnting Warren and Sussex Counties in NJ? Wouldn't happen now. That was Marge Roukema's(R) seat from 1983-2002 before Scott Garrett took it over and Marge retired. Garrett did primary her in both 1998 and 2000. Marge was a Northeast Moderate Republican(which I am and proud of it) and Garrett is a staunch conservative.

What's the deal with NC and SC?

Clinton was hurt in North Carolina after his administration started taking on big tabacco, which might explain the contrast. 

Oh yeah NASCAR was sponsored by Winston back then too and North Carolina was NASCAR country back then as well as home to 3 NASCAR Event Tracks.  Didn't know SC had a problem with Clinton's hardline stance against the tabacco industry.

Alot of ticket splitting in the Southeast Region, Oklahoma, Idaho and Montana as well. Washington State's most eastern congressional district split their ticket as well voting for Bush H.W. as well as Foley I think.

The Warren and Sussex district was represented in the 95th Congress by Helen Stevenson Meyner, who was the wife of a former Governor, daughter of an ambassador, and distant cousin of Adlai Stevenson. She was first elected in 1974 in the wake of Watergate, and was narrowly reelected in 1976 before being defeated by Jim Courter in 1978.

Oh, and if only there were more people like you in the Republican Party today, the country wouldn't be in such a mess.
