When I tried changing my display name, it cut to an error screen. I've tried this many times.

What gives?

Maybe it doesn't like weird characters in your name.........I changed mine twice today.

What do you want to change it to?  I know that one of the updates to the security did touch this feature.

I wanted to change it to this "RIP The 90's - December 26, 1991-September 11, 2001". I guess it was the slashes that did it, if what Gramps said is correct.
