It wouldn't change much, but it would make it more difficult to make gay marriage legal in that state.

Anyway, I'm completely against it.  I find it very discriminatory.

I haven't given it much thought. May not even be voting in the primary. Having only one vehicle is a beast and if there isn't an important vote, we may not go.


I'll just say that Pat McCrory is at risk of being primaried by a tea party guy, even if he is unopposed.

What are you grappling with in deciding your vote?  I'd be more than happy to make my case about the amendment (even if I'm a damn interloper ) but I want to hear where you're at now.

I expect he is serious, and I have seen this reasoning espoused before by other people unwilling to actively defend their prejudices.  Especially nonsensically, in his stated effort to achieve contrariety, he will end up voting with the majority.

What's your rationale for still considering a yes vote, then?  (I think the religion issue is overplayed, since this is civil marriage, but I don't see anything resembling a decent public policy argument for Constitutionally banning gay civil unions [!!!].)

Eh, I voted for John Kasich because Strickland's ads were over-the-top and had too much hyperbole about Kasich "getting rich on Wall Street" by selling mutual funds in Columbus. One of my best friends went to vote for Obama but changed his mind standing in line because the girl in front of him was annoying him and an Obama supporter. Irritating supporters don't always help their cause.

No, of course not. But a decent segment of the voting population is mildly indifferent on many of the issues they vote on, so what do you expect?

As for the actual issue, I would think this should fall fairly close to a vote on whether or not gay marriage should be legal since the point of amending the constitution is to prevent the state supreme court from ruling gay marriage legal (see Iowa). Of course I would vote for it but that shouldn't surprise anyone here.
