TX-Gov: Perry leaning toward another run

AUSTIN -- Gov. Rick Perry said Tuesday that he was leaning toward seeking an unprecedented fourth four-year term as governor in 2014, depending on the challenges facing the state and other factors.
Granting his first interviews to Texas media since he halted his presidential run, Perry told The Dallas Morning News that not only was another run for governor was still on the table, but so was the possibility of another presidential contest.
"It’s certainly not off the radar screen," Perry said of running for re-election. "I would think so, if I had to make the decision today. But I don’t."
An interesting note:
Quote
A recent poll for The News shows that Perry could have an uphill climb to run for governor again. After he ended his presidential run in January, more than half of respondents polled said the governor should not run again in 2014, and 45 percent said his presidential run had hurt the state’s image.

Well, back when he was debating Bill White, he said that if he were elected to his third term, he wouldn't run for President. Obviously, that didn't stop him.

If he runs, he'll win like every other Republican running statewide. Abbott's the only Perry alternative. In 2018 the Williams brothers will be ready.

Never thought I'd say this, but I'm praying for another black-yellow majority, and for the SPD to get shattered. It's exactly what it deserves.

Rick, I honor your time as governor but it's time for new blood to take over in Texas.
KBH will be out of office in 2013.
Hopefully you and John Cornyn will be out in 2015.
Hopefully Barton, Sessions, and some of the other dinosaurs in Texas also retire.

Heh, why not? I think the current record for consecutive years served as Governor is 18 set by George Clinton. Might as well set a new record!

Sad to say that he'll win too. (With the preface that he isn't ousted by another Republican in a primary. If he makes it to the general, he's safe.) After all, Texas does love its Republicans these days. Though my neck of the woods isn't too fond of Perry, most of the rest of the state will be all Perry. Easy win... sadly.
So, at this point, you can basically rename the Governor's Mansion: Rick Perry's House of Blues.

Wow, that's kind of ridiculous. The man will have been in office longer than some of his newer voters have been alive. Perry should just stop running.

It'd probably be pretty hard for him to be renominated this time.

It's only a ceremonial post anyway.

Except he's been in office for so long that's he's been able to stuff the Texan government with his cronies, so he has way more power than anyone gives him credit for.
'Course, he's an idiot anyway, but a powerful one.
