So it's trolling now to ask about the spelling of posters' names?

I recall a thread asking if you bothered to always capitalize CARLHAYDEN.

If you're going to whine could you kindly be more specific about what you're whining about so we can all be as bothered by what it is your'e saying, or so we can lulz at the whining?

he posted a poll asking if we capitalize 'opebo', which presumably has now been locked/deleted and/or infracted.

On two boards designated for nothing but trolling it does seem weird to infract for it......but hey, take it up with the dynamic duo.

Zack, making a countless polls about opebo is quite a trolling. One poll from time to time would be fine.

And no, I did not report this.

I doubt anyone reported it, rather just Inks acting alone (as is probably the case with most things, and such is why I don't agree with the unity of reporter and moderator functions -- there should be a wall of separation between the two)

I don't think moderators can infract posts that weren't reported. They can at most lock/delete it.

Unless of course Inks is able to report posts on his board.

I also wonder who reported my Family Guy clip, which was OK with 2/3 of the mods on that forum. Mikado posted a stern post in response to it but didn't delete it. I asked Alcon if IRC if he would've infracted it and he responded with basically "No, but it's not funny".

I did not report the post, delete the thread, or infract the reported post, so, once again (and I've lost count how many times you've done this), you are saying things like they are facts when you actually have no clue what is going on.

Kalwejt, I can report posts on my own boards.

I was always curious whether moderators can report on their boards. Thanks for an info.

Yes.  Although apparently some can't report posts from threads that they started.

Absurd.  He wants to know what people think about me, so he makes a poll.

What the hell? I just got 4 death points for making a thread, suggesting that it may be good idea to make Jmfcst a part of the moderation team, giving his interest in it, as well as already mentioned lack of Republican moderators.

I also suggested to make AndrewCT moderator, but obviously, this thread was fine. Am I just a collateral damage of moderators personal antipathy toward suggested person or there are some double standards, whom we can discuss as possible moderator?

You know I do not complain publicly about infractions, as I prefer to avoid the drama by simply contacting a moderator, but my recent infraction is just so sensless.

AndrewCT is a legitimate recommendation for moderator.  The suggestion of jmfcst becoming one is pure trollery.

Well, if a dude who put a picture of black penis in the (certainly) underage member's signature can be a moderator, why can't be jmfcst?

Dude... 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Well, Joe did cause this change and I still consider this as a great practical joke. And he's a fine moderator too, but he's not an example of a netiquette person either. While I don't agree with jmfcst on almost any issue and prefer Joe both politically and as a loveable asshole, he's not really that better than jmfcst in terms of acting onlike.

Look, if jmfcst's record of being a banned member is making it impossible for him to be even seriously considered as a moderator, I can only bow in front of this rule. But making a suggestion, even a silly one, doesn't justify an infraction.

I really hate to bring it up, but PMing Nym (I assume it was him, since Atlas board doesn't have it's own moderator) seems pointless. I bet I'd rather receive an answer from Raoul Wallenberg, than him.

Glad to see that I've mastered the intimidation factor. Smiley

Managed to pick up 5 death points in the past few days, for those that think we always get a free pass. Amusingly enough, three of them came from pointing out the fact that I'd just been given two. Might pick up a few more soon if it is determined that sneering is an infractable offence.

Anyway, the point isn't to complain, but to point out that 'we' don't form actually form an elite group as such. People should know this.

I didn't agree to omertà and actually believe in a degree of transparency, so would appreciate it if this post is not report as 'trolling', diolch.

Happy Easter also.

Trolling isn't supposed to be dealt by with moderation. The community is responsible to keep trolls by either ignoring them or ostracizing, bullying and mocking them into submission. Unfortunately atlas is too divided to properly deal with them. Although politico's trolling seems to have a net positive effect on the forum, but it's really obvious and predictable. Seems to me Atlas managed too "own" that troll(in a sense like the n-word or feminists attempting to own "slut").

Other Romney hacks seem to mostly achieve their goal of enraging posters though.

The fact Al gets infracted proves that some mods are seriously misguided as to how to carry out their duties.

Al's been infracted before though I can hardly see why....now a post deleted with no points here and there might have been warranted but it's laughable he got death points.

a relatively large proportion of Al-posts are one-liners that either openly attack others or simply state his superiority to everyone else.  so the idea of an Al-figure getting infracted should not come across as if it is from Mars.  in fact I would argue that he only gets away with behaving as he does because he is who he is: one of the most important figures, top 5 at the very least, in the development of the Forum and its culture.

And also because he does so in an extremely witty way, which results in improving the quality of the forum rather than degrading it.

To me it's quite simple : you degrade the quality, you get infracted ; you improve it, you don't.

You really are from Mars.  Using wit is a sure fire way for me to be infracted.  In fact, the way the infraction system has been used to stifle humor has been, by far, my biggest objection to it.

Take for example this gem, which was deleted and infracted:

Quote

Yes I know, my blood. I'm the martyr and you're the one put in charge by God. Right! I get it, anyone who disagrees with you, you turn into Derek. You are a reflection of the early "Orthodox" Church turning everyone into Satan that went against them. For example, the chief priests, Sadduccees, the Pharisees, Judas!

Scream and holler all you want, the jmfcst has heard it all before.  I encourage you not only to continue, but to do so even louder….that’s right, I want you to bitch and whine.  You making a scene helps serve my purpose.  In any case, why are you bitchin up a storm?  This is how you wanted it…you obviously wanted to get caught, otherwise you wouldn’t have revealed so much about yourself.  And, not only did you want to be caught, but you wanted the jmfcst to the be the one to catch you.  So…here you are, and here am I.

But, Yo!...Did it never occur to you in your infinite delusions that you’re worth more to me alive than dead?!...it’s true…see, my job is to make sure the jmfcst gets promoted to modship by proving I can do the job of Mod, while neither being a Mod nor having the weapons of a Mod, better than the Mods.  And every minute they leave you alive, denying your obvious true identity, is another minute that point is driven home.

If they were to execute you, then I’d have to work to find another example to prove my worth as Mod.  But by leaving you alive, I get to continue to play this winning hand, which means the jmfcst can continue to contrast his judicial sanity with their…well, let’s just say, with their way of doing things...without even breaking a sweat.  If you’re executed, your retarded self is out my hair and I win for getting the credit for your death…if they leave you alive, I win by continuing to play a winning hand.  So, either way, it’s a win-win for the jmfcst.

And it’s a win-win situation for the jmfcst because he has the truth on his side.  But, of course, that’s the whole purpose of truth – to win.  You, on the other hand, are a liar, which is why you find yourself being used as a pawn and suspended right on the every edge between life and death.  So, see ya, and I wouldn’t want to be ya!

Oh…I almost forgot…tell Elena the jmfcst is sorry she doesn’t have a real man to please her. I’d throw her a bone, but, she’s really not even close to being my type.

And, one other thing…don’t forget to help the cause with your screams.

If the Mods had any personality at all, combining such wit and badassery would be rewarded, not infracted.
