Hope the new leader is someone with good diplomatic and political skills. Really needed with so much religious tension and the ongoing harassment and violence against Egypt's Christians.

Sad news. RIP. Echoing politicus's thoughts on any successor.

Sad, he seemed to be a nice guy. Rest in Peace. Here's hoping that the Copts get a dynamic new Pope that can help protect them from persecution.

May I suggest Rambo or John McClane.  I don't think either is Coptic though.

The unique misfortune of the Palestinian refugees is that they are a weapon in what seems to be a permanent war...today, in the Middle East, you get a repeated sinking sensation about the Palestinian refugees: they are only a beginning, not an end. Their function is to hang around and be constantly useful as a goad. The ultimate aim is not such humane small potatoes as repatriating refugees.

It may be tough finding someone who is both high enough in the Coptic hierarchy to make promotion to Pope feasible and yet also kept the previous regime sufficiently at arms length to make his election relatively uncontroversial.
