Gilbert mass killing: Border militia leader identified as shooter

A border militia leader on Wednesday shot and killed four people at a Gilbert home, including a toddler, before committing suicide, sources said.

Sources identified the shooter as Jason "J.T." Ready, a reputed neo-Nazi who made headlines when he launched a militia movement to patrol the Arizona desert to hunt for illegal immigrants and drug smugglers.

Yep, that's the same guy who was buddy-buddy with GOP state senator Russell Pearce, author of Arizona's infamous immigration law.

Since just about every "type" of person has had some member who has committed murder, or been involved in a murder-suicide, we can generalize your "point" to note that every group out there is "dangerous!"

I feel sorry for Ready's family, but not for JT Ready himself. What a scumbag. Russell Pearce is not as bad, but still terrible. I'm ashamed that Arizona leaders in the LDS Church (my own faith) let the racist Pearce baptize and ordain that Neo-Nazi Ready into our membership.

(More to the point, J.T. Ready was an unbalanced individual and not politically typical of tea party people, not even in Arizona. Though there's an, ahem, special flavor to the Arizona right - which of course helps explain the Pearce pics.)

I'm not so sure. It depends on what they are being accused of by folks and why. I could see there being sets of circumstances under which I would feel compelled to "defend" them in one way or another, even though I do not think border militias should exist.

I'm not so sure. It depends on what they are being accused of by folks and why. I could see there being sets of circumstances under which I would feel compelled to "defend" them in one way or another, even though I do not think border militias should exist.

It would seem that a false accusation that Jason Ready was one of their "leaders" when in fact he had been expelled on his first day and told never to come back is one such set of circumstances.

After that particular incident, Ready founded two border militia groups; the 'Minuteman Civil Defense Corps' and the 'U.S. Border Guard'.  Therefore, he was a border militia leader.
