Oh great. Well, 2013 will be fun then especially since there's virtually nothing else to follow politically.

Then we aren't really in disagreement on anything here.
By the way, I just read in the Financial Times that while Berlusconi insists he won't run for public office again, there are rumors he might comeback of Alfano can't lead the party to victory next year. Any truth to this?
If Berlusconi comes back, we can really start digging the PdL's grave.
But I think even he isn't that deluded.

Now, people have made it clear they are fed up with him. He's dead. This has been said several times, but this time he is really dead.

M5S has same anti-establishment appeal that Berlusconi and LN used to get power in 90s. To PD have a legitimate mandate to govern, they should appeal to outsider people and get rid of former DC people.

Does anyone seriously expect this to last if it's accurate?

I'm not "expecting" anything. I'm acknowledging and trying to convince myself this is not a dream.

Berlusconi apparently said that the PdL is dead, and he'll take over the party that will substitute it.

It reminds me the Greens surge in Germany after Baden Wurtemberg in Germany, when they reached in polls more than 22%, even more than SPD. But the moment faded...

I'm seeing a bunch of Facebook status updates from his page. My translation might be off but he seemed to be refusing the resignation of a PdL official. Not sure why he'd bother to say that if he thinks the party is dead.

Wow. Imagine if the M5S surpassed the PD and Grillo ended up becoming Prime Minister (shhudders).

He could support Tiririca for president in Brazil and start the Humourist International.

With the Monster Raving Loonies, die Partei, the Australian Sex party, the Rhinoceros Party, and many more...they'd already have a good point to start from.

Sardinia held their local elections in June. Run offs were on 24-25th June. PD and co gained both Oristano and Alghero (the only two town requiring a second round). Turnout was 51.01% in Oristano and 58.53% in Alghero
