My partner Michael will be in hospital for a corrective procedure on Thursday. It is estimated to take four to six hours. He underwent surgery as a baby and lost part of his intestines and is heavily scarred. The operation is to help fix the scarring and to investigate the effects of the surgery. I know that the risk to him is minimal and that you are more likely to be hit by a bus, but he may require a blood transfusion as the surface area involved is fairly large. Naturally I’m a little worried
I’ll be with him on Thursday.

Things seem to have been difficult for you recently. I hope everything turns out ok for him and you.

I'm not counting Dave Leip. He used to be the only moderator when I first started posting here. There were no "infraction points" or anything like that back then. I'd just get an email message once in a while that said something like, "Please avoid drunken, emotional diatribes. Thank you, Dave Leip" or "Please refrain from linking to pornographic websites. Thank you, Dave Leip."

Thank you for your kindness
He was under for four hours and came round yesterday evening. He was able to smile at me. He was still on morphine so later his conversations had flashes of brilliance followed by talking drug induced nonsense (He had to behave or the nurse would 'hit him with a stick' for example
)
I'll be dropping by later today to see him.

Good news. As to the morphine bit, I thought there were no nerves in the intestine. I watched my own colonoscopy on video because I refused to be put under. I hardly felt any pain at all, and enjoyed the tour of my own body. I also knew I was clean before the doctor told me (just two tiny white polyps). I lost my battle to watch my own hernia operation a couple of months ago however. But the anesthesiologist had to work on me for awhile before I submitted. How can you savor life if you aren't awake? Every experience is precious.
