Pretty interesting statistics. Although I'd like to see Florida and Illinois, and see the data.
Looks like GA and TX vote the same way in terms of racial politics.

Separating the white precincts in Chicagoland from Downstate would probably also be revealing.

the heavily white precincts from what I remember, went 59-41 Obama in Cook, 51-48 Obama in DuPage, 54-45 Obama in Lake, and gave 51 or 52 percent to McCain in Will and Kane.

Like IL it would be interesting to compare the white precincts in suburban Philly with the ones in the rest of state. In IL the Chicago area white precincts were more Obama than average, and I suspect the same is true in Philly.

It was true in white suburban zones in big metro areas north of the Mason Dixon line across the nation, albeit more muted in Milwaukee and the Twin Cities, and not there at all in Pittsburgh. The swing was massive in my hood - about 11 points or so.

what is the difference in definition between "solid" and "heavily"?

none, I guess from now on I'll just stick to the word "heavily", which means 75% or more of the population.
