Proposal- Military Board

To whom it may concern- I propose creating a military board. I've been delighted to discuss topics such as Congress botching its oversight of the the military, why veterans have lost their hold on the Presidency, which branch is most crucial to US interests, who is the greatest flag officer in history, etc...

As it is- these topics are thrown all over the place and it would be convenient for those of us who love to discuss them- such as myself, dead0man, Redalgo, SJoyceFla, and others- to place all of these discussions and news involving the armed services that we may want to discuss. Dead0man I believe would be a great person to put in charge of it...

There's my two cents... any one else agree?

While I understand and respect the significance of those discussions, I don't think they merit a board to themselves. For example, we have something like a third of our posters identifying as LGBT, but there isn't, nor should there be a board to discuss issues related to such issues; they are best talked about in respective boards from politics, to philosophy, to US general discussion etc. The same is true of military issues.

Is it really necessary?  Remember, each additional board slows down the software, so if we can just continue talking about current military stuff in U.S. General or 2012 Presidency, I think that's best.

I'd support a Defense/Foreign Policy/International Relations-type board. A place for our military, foreign policy, and cultural interchange wonks alike.

Another one I don't get the need for is Alternative History when the content seems interchangeable with what ifs?.

They definitely overlap.  The what-ifs board began as alternate election results while the Alt History board is basically everything else that is counterfactual.

UK General Election 1970 has some funny theories surrounding it. (Though I suppose those aren't very credible)

You're on an American centric board hosted on American servers owned by an American.  You'll need to get used to our used of the term football.  You can call it association football if you want...or better yet, soccer.  It's not like you don't know what "soccer" means.
