Someone who wants to be there and can "cut it" should be permitted to be there. I see this as neither a distraction nor a rights issue.

let me just put it very simply:
Vietcong = women fighters
US Army = no women fightrers (at th etime)
who won?
More ignorance from BRTD, who only days ago said the USSR was losing the Cold War in 1980 and its fall was inevitable.
In VIetnam, the US killed 12 NVA and VC soldiers for every 1 loss. On the battlefield, the NVA and VC could not cut it. It was in the political arena where the US lost.

Absolutely. The war was lost in the political arena, not the battlefield.

As for the question in the thread, no women should not be allowed in combat. They lack the physical strength of men. Remember, a five foot nothing grandmother was charged with guarding a six foot black man as he entered an Atlanta Courtroom a few weeks ago, and we all know how that turned out.
Female cops are more likely to resort to using their guns than male cops as well. Gee, why is that? Could it be thaqt, cognizant of their physical inferiority to male perpetrators, they don't feel confident enough to use proper protocol? Or that they are physically incapable of using proper protocol?
When will this nonsense social experimentation stop?

well on the battlefield everyone uses guns, so it's a moot point.
Are you saying that you, a male, would not be afraid of a FARC girl?

Not really, if we were equally armed.

yes. plenty of communist guerilla insurgencies are 30-40% women and they have no problems. Hell, the Vietcong included women in combat, the US didn't, and the Vietcong still kicked the US's ass.
Yeah, we completely destroyed their infastructre, killed nearly 80% of all their soldiers, yet they kicked our asses. Take a history lesson BRTD.
If Johnson would have just used all our firepower we would have won that war in 6 weeks.

Actually, six weeks was the exact timetable that Clark Clifford laid out as Secretary of Defense in 1968 for how long an invasion of the North would take to complete.

WTF? Are you a simpleton? Just because everyone has a gun doesnt mean everyone is CAPABLE of using that gun. Did you know that 80% of bullets fired in the civil war were misses?
