Any chance of Hastert losing his seat in 2006 like Tom Foley did in 1994, thanks to the Mark Foley scandal?
That Hastert knew about this 10 months ago and didn't do anything should be a crime.  Hastert should've gone to Mark Foley immediately and said, "Hey, resign, or we'll expel you."

That said, who is Hastert's Democratic opponent, and does he have any chance of beating Hastert?  Is Hastert's seat gerrymandered just for him (even if it is, that didn't help Phil Crane)?

His opponent is John Laesch, a former Navy intelligence analyst. He has a good shot if this story gets traction.

I'm still going out on a limb here and predicting that Tom Vilsack will eventually become the Dem nominee.

The others--Edwards, Hillary, and Obama, have peaked WAY too early

THE BUCKS ARE GOING TO THE FINAL FOUR!!!

This might be the most hackish statement, if Hassert loses the Dems should be looking at gaining 176+ seats

Tom Foley's winning percentage the last cycle before he was defeated:
   Thomas Foley (D): 55.18%
        John Sonneland (R): 44.82%

Dennis Hastert's winning percentage in 2004:
    Dennis Hastert (R): 68.63%
        Ruben Zamora (D): 31.37%

Dennis Hastert is only in trouble if he also sent sexually explicit emails to that page.
