I always have hovered about -4 to -7 socially and -3 to -6 economically.  The -2.5 eco is a shock.

One thing you guys might want to factor in is this is only a on-line test. It should be taken with a grain of salt... You know its not flawless and you're not going to get the same results everytime

Yeah, before Bandit answered I was gonna chide you both for your social conservativism.

Oh the irony coming from someone with a blue avatar.

The test is at http://www.politicalcompass.org/  I do not like this particular political test.  There are better ones.

East-You are an Easterner-a social conservative-which means that you advocate an increased role for the government in the personal realm. You are more or less pleased the government's role in the economic realm.

Centerville-You would feel most at home in Centerville, which means that you are more or less pleased the status quo-you think the US government has just about the right amount of control over your economic and personal decisions. Your neighbors include democratic and republican party leaders and others who call themselves "moderates" and "centrists."

This is pretty darn accurate (the description anyway).

West-You are a Westerner-a civil libertarian-which means that you advocate a diminished role for the government in the personal realm. You are more or less pleased the government's role in the economic realm.

"Economic Left/Right: -8.88" should be translated as "I'm too young to have paid any significant taxes."

No offense, Red.  I actually considered myself a Socialist when I was in high school.  It's natural.

I would be a lot closer to Red's Libertarian score if not for my beliefs on abortion.

No way in hell does Bush believe in more personal freedom than Kerry.

I live just west of Centerville.

this was cute.  I'm pretty much right on top of Drew Carey, whoever he is.  Beef, Kerry and Bush are more alike than different.  And if Kerry really believed in personal freedom, there's no way he'd be a Democrat.  And, if Bush really believed in personal freedom, he'd fire AG Ashcroft.  There's plenty of authoritarianism to go around, so that neither of these two should claim to have a lock on repressiveness.

My views seem to have started going back the other way no, but I doubt it is indicative of a trend, rather just a stabilization.

Wow.  You're actually very close to me.  A bit more authoritarian, but almost in Moderate Republican territory.  I'm surprised at the red avatar, although I think you're probably comfortably within DLC-land.

I always said that with Democrats like Bill Clinton, you don't even need Republicans.  GWB is nice filler till another real conservative, like Clinton, comes along.  Howard Dean says he likes to represent the Democrat wing of the Democrat Party.  Guess that's why Hillary saw to it that he embarassed himself sufficiently to lose the nomination to Kerry, who will lose the election to Bush, creating a vacuum to be filled by her in 2008.
