Many voters at Edison High School, in suburban Edison, N.J., said they were unhappy with the job Gov. Jon Corzine had done, and were especially cross about their high tax burden. While several said they didn’t believe that GOP candidate Chris Christie could do much better, others said they wanted a change. Early returns from the Garden State had Christie ahead by a comfortable margin. “Corzine came into a bad situation,” said Larry Benn, a retired manager for Verizon as he headed to his car. “He did the best he could. He deserves another shot.” Heather Brown, a homemaker said after voting, “The times are bad. I don’t blame Corzine for that. Who’s to say anyone else would have done better?” But several voters said they couldn’t stand another four years of Corzine, especially after property taxes just rose again. “It’s getting out of hand. We need a change,” said a longshoreman named Lenny, who declined to give his last name because his union wants members to vote Democratic. He picked Christie, he said, after just getting a notice that he needed to pay $250 more in taxes on his house. “There’s only so much you can squeeze a guy.” Teresa Clark, a dental hygienist who said she voted for Christie, called taxes “a big issue” and said, “We want a change.” Bloomberg Re-Elected New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was re-elected to a third term, according to projections from NBC News. Update: NBC just took back its call of the race. However, the New York Times already has its story up that Bloomberg won. Update II: Chuck Todd: "For the record, NBC News has NOT called NYC mayor for Bloomberg; We reported the call of exit pollster, EMR. They pulled their call." Update III: The AP finally calls the race for Bloomberg.
