Summary

This map shows a partisan breakdown of Washington's 49 legislative districts for the House of Representatives. Red means that both of the district's representatives are Democrats, blue means they are both Republicans, and yellow means that one is a Democrat and one is a Republican. All representatives are elected every two years, the most recent election being in 2004, in which 55 Democrats and 43 Republicans were elected. However, on March 14th of 2006, Rep. Rodney Tom of the 48th legislative district switched parties, changing from Republican to Democrat, citing his discontent with the far right's takeover of the Republican Party. This map reflects Tom's party change, showing the current 56 Democrats and 42 Republicans.
