Governor

Results by county--blue represents Snyder counties, red represents Bernero counties. Shading represents the percentage of the vote for the winning candidate.

In the gubernatorial election, businessman and Republican candidate Rick Snyder easily defeated the Democratic candidate, Lansing mayor Virg Bernero. Snyder's election was a gain for Republicans after eight years of Democratic control of the governor's office.

Secretary of State

In the election for Secretary of State, former state legislator and 2006 Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor, Ruth Johnson, defeated Democrat Jocelyn Benson. Johnson replaced outgoing Republican Terri Lynn Land.

Attorney General

In the election for Attorney General, Republican and former Congressman Bill Schuette defeated Democrat David Leyton. Schuette replaced outgoing Republican Mike Cox, who ran unsuccessfully for Governor in the August Republican primary.
